The Perfect Sugar Cookie

I saw this recipe on a great blog called Attack of the Hungry Monster. With a name like The Perfect Sugar Cookie how could I not investigate? Well, I have no qualms about saying, "Yes, these ARE the perfect sugar cookies!!"  I would not lie to you. Seriously, these are WONDERFUL!  Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside.  My kids loved them and so did my friends who were lucky enough to get a sample.  Try these soon, you won't be sorry!

This photo is what my cookies looked like with natural raw sugar. You can see Renee's photo (she used colored sugar) and her original recipe HERE.
The Perfect Sugar Cookie
Yield ~30 cookies

1-1/2 sticks butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 egg white
1 TB vanilla
2-1/4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
Sanding sugar, whatever kind or colors you like. I just used Raw Sugar for a natural look.

Preheat oven to 350-F.

Cream butter and sugars together.  Add egg, egg white and vanilla.  In small bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda.  Add to creamed mixture and stir until combined.  Using a spoon or cookie scoop,  scoop dough and roll into balls about the size of a golf ball.  Roll each ball into the sanding sugar and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.   Bake for 13-15 minutes or until slightly browned. Do not over-bake!  Cool for a minute on cookie sheet. Remove and cool on wire rack.

Happy Baking!

  5. You know this might just be the recipe for me. I have been very cautious with baking cookies because of over-baking. But your instructions are so simple that I will file them away especially for Christmas time. Great to meet you via Voiceboks!

  7. Yum, my girls love sugar cookies and I've been on the hunt for a new one. My current recipe tastes wonderful but they're so delicate that they just crumble up when you try to eat them. Not a good idea for toddlers!

  16. Oh, oh, oh...I have to make these for my husband. He's a huge fan of sugar cookies and is also very picky. They have to be just the right texture and crispness. Me, I'll eat leftover cookie crumbs off the floor (embarrassed grin), any flavor...any time. I'm a total cookie lover. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Can't wait to try it out!

    Blessings,
