Why This Blog?
Welcome!
Come in and make yourself at home. I'm so happy to be able to share my recipes here with you.
I bake mostly cookies, quick breads, muffins and scones -- sometimes pie, sometimes cake, but nothing too fancy. I prefer simple recipes that call for ingredients that I already have in my kitchen.
These are the recipes I will share with you. They come from family and friends, magazine clippings saved through the years, favorite cookbooks, and other blogs.
I'm so glad you came to visit. Enjoy your stay!

Walnut Frosties
I like to have a wide variety of cookies when I put together a cookie tray at the holidays. People prefer different things, so it's good to offer some rich and sweet bars, some decorated cookies, and some plain and simple things like shortbread. These walnut cookies are soft and chewy with a butterscotch-ish flavor. Delish!
Walnut Frosties
Yield ~3 dozen
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1-3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
TOPPING:
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup sour cream
(I found this to be too much. Probably 1/2 of that would be enough.)
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350-F.
In a large bowl, cream brown sugar and butter until light and fluffy; blend in vanilla and egg.
In a smaller bowl, whisk together flour, soda and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to butter mixture; mix well.
Shape dough into 1 inch balls; place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. With thumb, make imprint in center of each cookie.
Combine topping ingredients and fill each cookie with ~1/2 tsp. topping.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until delicately browned. Cool slightly and remove to wire rack to cool completely.
Happy Baking!
