Why This Blog?

Welcome!

Come in and make yourself at home. I'm so happy to be able to share my recipes here with you.

I bake mostly cookies, quick breads, muffins and scones -- sometimes pie, sometimes cake, but nothing too fancy. I prefer simple recipes that call for ingredients that I already have in my kitchen.

These are the recipes I will share with you. They come from family and friends, magazine clippings saved through the years, favorite cookbooks, and other blogs.

I'm so glad you came to visit. Enjoy your stay!

Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Do you like the packaged cinnamon swirl breads? That is a major breakfast weakness of mine. So when I found this recipe for homemade Cinnamon Swirl Bread, I just had to try it.  Let me tell you, homemade beats store-bought any day!

This recipe was shared by a wonderful baker/blogger I can always count on for delicious recipes - Andi, at The Wednesday Baker.  I have featured her recipes here before.   If you haven't gone to visit her yet, you are really missing out on some tasty treats!

Try her Cinnamon Swirl Bread and you'll know what I mean. This bread is so EASY and you don't even need a mixer!

Cinnamon Swirl Bread

1/3 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
2 cups flour
1 TB baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil

Preheat oven to 350-F.  Lightly grease a 9x5 in. loaf pan or spray with PAM cooking spray for baking.

In a small bowl, mix 1/3 cup sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon.  Set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and 1 cup sugar.

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and oil.  Add to the dry ingredients and mix with a spoon until just combined.

Pour 1/2 the batter into the loaf pan. Sprinkle 1/2 the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter. Pour remaining batter over the cinnamon sugar, then sprinkle remaining cinnamon sugar on the top.  Take a knife and put it into the batter, then swirl it around to marble the bread.

Bake for 45-50 min. or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.  Let sit for about 10 min. in the pan, then remove to a wire rack to cool.

Happy Baking!
